Champions are known by their dream.
Achievement of any significant goal is merely a manifestation of a dream and clear imagery inside that athletes mind well before it become reality. As a Skill Development Specialist, I do not believe in players just merely playing basketball. I’m a firm believer that success starts with first knowing what you want to accomplish.
Initially before I take a player on as a client, I have him or her write down the goals they wish to accomplish for the upcoming season. Dreams come in many different sizes. Some players’ desires are to make their middle school or high school team. Some players dream of being a starter, captain, and; best player on their high school team. Then there are the athletes for whom basketball is so important that it is not just a game to them, but it is a way of life. These individuals often have lofty goals of playing college basketball and, if talented and; gifted enough, maybe even pro.
The achievement of any dream or goal, whether big or small, first starts with a dream. It is so important to visually see what you want to accomplish in your mind, because if you can see it in your mind, it will happen in time. Now it’s time to take action and put in the hard work and; make the necessary sacrifices to make your dream become reality. Obviously the bigger the dream and; goal, the more work and; sacrifices that are required.
On your quest for basketball success there will be obstacles, challenges, and maybe even setbacks, but if you stay equipped with your dream you can weather any storm. In order to reach your goal, you must stay focused and trust the process. Moreover, don’t forget to have some fun- it’s a game and it’s intended to be fun.
Lastly, your dream is worth fighting for, so don’t ever give up until you reach it. It is critical you accomplish your dream because the CHAMPIONS who are bound and determined to reach their dreams are the only ones who are remembered.
